ITS (Intelligent Transport System)
The term ITS is an acronym for an Intelligent Transport System. This new system is designed to solve road traffic issues, including traffic accidents and traffic congestion, by connecting people, roads and vehicles through cutting-edge information technology. The Toyota Ecoful Town provides firsthand experience of both the most advanced technology powered by solar photovoltaic energy and a low-carbon society. Visitors can also experience systems being pursued by Toyota City to solve traffic and environmental issues.
- Bus Entry Control System
- This system enables bollards (or security poles for preventing vehicle entry) to retract automatically when a bus approaches. LED street lights show the way and guide the bus safely to the stopping position.
- Intersection Collision Avoidance System
- This system alerts the driver of oncoming pedestrians and vehicles on roads with limited visibility.
- Disabled Parking Management System
- The sensor identifies a pre-registered vehicle when it approaches, and LED lights guide the vehicle to an available disabled parking space.
- Vehicle Speed Warning System
- This is a system to monitor vehicle speed and warn when the driver exceeds the speed limit.
- Movable Bollard System
- This system is designed for drivers to reduce their speed on roads where it is necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians
- Speed Limit Area Notification System
- This is a system to notify drivers that their vehicle has entered an area where a speed limit is imposed on both drivers and pedestrians.
- Intersection Collision Avoidance System
- Using cameras installed around an intersection, the system detects the presence of vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians, and calls attention to those around the intersection.
